Internet Company Employs Innovative Environmental Sustainability
Initiatives
SRI World Group, Inc. Demonstrates Commitment to the Global Compact
and CERES Principles through progressive programs.
Brattleboro,
VT – May 8, 2001 – SRI World Group, Inc., an Internet-based
information company that promotes corporate responsibility, walks
its talk
by implementing progressive environmental initiatives aimed at its
own operations. The firm’s internal policies reflect a sincere
dedication to abiding by the United
Nation's Global Compact and the CERES
Principles.
In taking responsibility for the impact of its business activities
on the environment, SRI World Group:
- In collaboration with American Forests (www.americanforests.org)
will
plant trees to offset carbon dioxide emissions resulting from
company-related transportation and electricity use.
- Commissioned a local carpenter to craft the office’s desks
to ensure that
they were made from 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified
lumber.
- Strictly enforces recycling and composting of all office waste.
- Strives to use sustainable products whenever possible. 95% of
all paper
used is entirely post-consumer recycled.
“It is absolutely critical that companies implement environmentally
sustainable initiatives. We are simply trying to lead by example
through
our own policies,” Jay Falk, President of SRI World Group.
“Small businesses make up a vital piece of our economy and
their adoption of
environmentally sustainable initiatives will have a major impact
on society.”
"We applaud SRI World Group for demonstrating that all companies
- not just the huge multinationals - need to take concrete actions
to limit their environmental impacts. This is a great example of
a company practicing what
it preaches." said Bob Massie, Executive Director of CERES.
